The Easter Bunny once again hopped into Atlantic City and made an appearance on a beautiful sunny day at O'Donnell Park on Saturday, April 14. Nearly 300 local children took part in the festivities which featured games, prizes, balloons, candy and pictures with the Easter Bunny, too.

Mayo James Whelan stopped by to wish all in attendance
a happy holiday. Councilmen Dennis Mason donated several Easter gift baskets that were filled with candy, games, toys
stuffed animals and other delightful treats and goodies. In all,
22 baskets were won by children, who after meeting Mr. Bunny received an egg and a chance at winning one of the 22 baskets. Superintendent of Recreation Jackie Preston and the Atlantic City Youth Services painted nearly a hundred decorative wooden flowers.

The Special Improvement District's Courtesy Patrol provided assistance in decorating O'Donnell Park, taking pictures, blowing up balloons and supervising games. This event, which was sponsored by the City of Atlantic City, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and the merchant and casinos of the Special Improvement District, also received media coverage from Atlantic City's NBC affiliate WMGM TV-40.

The Special Improvement District, in the spirit of
Black History Month, held the African-American History
Trail Tour on Tuesday, February 20, and Wednesday,
February 21.

The guided tour, which was open by invitation only to local dignitaries, politicians, and executives, visited nearly a dozen historical sites, such as the Masonic Temple, Westside
All Wars Memorial Building, St. Augustine's Episcopal Church
and Pop Llyod Stadium. Local historians Sid Trusty and Richlyn Goddard provided insight into the historical significance of the African-American heritage in Atlantic City.

A luncheon was held afterwards at Brewster's Global Cafe, located at 1413 Artic Avenue between Tennessee and New York avenues. This event also received local press and media coverage.
