The good ole days of selecting fresh peaches and juicy tomatoes right here in Atlantic City returned on Thursday, July 12, when the Atlantic City Farmers Market in Gordon's Alley debuted.

Located in the parking lot between Pennsylvania Avenue and Gordon's Alley, the Farmers Market featured vendors from all across southern New Jersey. Produce, arts, crafts, jewelry and handmade clothing were just some of the items available to the public. The Farmers Market was held each Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Several Courtesy Patrol Representatives provided roving security throughout the day during the event.

Local artist and resident Linda Wexlar envisioned a mural that would "honor the past, look forward to the future and have
meaning to the entire community." The new mural, which was formally dedicated on Thursday, August 2 (Left), is located on a side wall of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority's building in Gordon's Alley, and is a four-panel, 7'x8' work of art.

Wexlar, who resides in Brigantine, began painting at the age of three and performed her first show at age 11 in Long Island. She painstakingly crafted this masterpiece over a 10-week period from mid-May through July.

The mural features individuals and scenes that reflect a local flavor and feel. Most of the people in the painting are local residents, businessmen and women. Wexler (Below), though, did add personal favorites like her nephew as a child and her brother-in-law. Many images were photographed throughout the city and incorporated into the mural.

The four panels that make up the mural are separated by 2'x7' columns that are painted to appear as though they were actually made out of brick. The panels themselves are made from MDO board, which is the same material used for roadside billboards. The panels are waterproof and fireproof.

The mural itself was painted with hundreds of colors and is coated with anti-graffiti material. It was constructed and installed by Chris Paxson of Coastline Creations of Absecon.
