In early June, this project on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue, (from right to left) Miller's Menswear,
Bike World, Wood's Pawnbroker and Easy Entrance Fashions, was completed. Improvements included
new awnings, signage, lighting, open-grill security gates, ceramic tiling and paint.

These may be the final lazy and hazy days of summer, but here at the Atlantic City Special Improvement District this is one of our busiest times of the year.

As we go to press, our Landscaping Division is preparing to roll out the sod on the city's newest
park at Melrose and Massachusetts avenues. This park has been constructed thanks in part to a cooperative
effort between the city of Atlantic City, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and the ACSID. Once completed, our landscapers will begin work on a new pocket park at States and Pacific avenues, as well as flower bed and fountain maintenance at Garden Pier on the Boardwalk.

Our Environmental Services Division, with its new Holder power washing machine, has cleaned
the sidewalks along Atlantic and Pacific avenues twice since April 15. The sidewalk scrubber maintains
it cleanliness with a light wash and scrub on a biweekly basis.

The Economic Development Division recently completed facades at Miller's Menswear, Bike World,
Wood's Pawn Broker and Easy Entrance Fashions, Shumsky's Bakery, Clauson's Picture Framing and
New Notion. Projects that are in progress are Pappa T's and Irene's, Ocean Grill and Mino's Bakery.
This fall, several other projects will commence, including Dairy Queen, Medical One and Sabatini's
Restaurant. The Farmers Market, held each Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., has benefited
greatly from its new location at Center City Park on Atlantic Avenue.

Our Courtesy Patrol Division continues to operate the Boardwalk Information Gazebos daily
through Miss America Pageant weekend. The bike patrol provides crowd control around the city
and roves the streets on a daily basis providing a security presence.

As September nears we are preparing the first draft of our 2003 Operating Budget. We welcome
your input on services that we should increase and add, or ways that we can become more productive.
Our Draft Budget Open Forum will be held on Thursday, September 12, 5 p.m. at our offices
here in Gordon's Alley. Our Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings are held the
third Thursday of each month, 5 p.m., at our office. All of these meetings are open to the public.

So enjoy the final weeks of the summer and the beautiful Indian summer ahead this fall.
