ACSID and the City of Atlantic City received
an unexpected gift this summer. When the Penn Atlantic Nursery Trade
Show (PANTS) made its first appearance at the Atlantic City Convention
Center, its exhibitors brought with them $180,000 worth of plants,
trees, and shrubbery. When they departed at the end of the show,
they left behind 2 acres of exhibit-quality plant material, donated
to the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association (PLNA) Foundation.
At the close of the show, the City of Atlantic City and ACSID made a $10,000
donation to PLNA. In return for this generosity, the City was given the leftover
plant materials, which will be used to beautify Stanley Holmes Village and O’Donnell
Park, among other prime locations throughout the city.
“ PANTS arrival in Atlantic City is the result of two years of discussion
and preparation.” said Landscape Manager Jon Bitzer. “Show organizers,
ACSID and City officials worked together to create a friendly, welcoming experience
for all attendees. And the plant material so generously donated by the show’s
exhibitors will beautify the city’s open spaces for years to
come.” PANTS returns to Atlantic City in 2007. |

In 2006, the City of Atlantic City contracted
ACSID to provide landscaping services to the city’s ball fields,
parks and other open spaces.
Efforts this season concentrated on turning around the city’s ball fields.
One location in particular, Pete Pallito Field, will receive a new irrigation
system and new turf grass.Weekly maintenance guarantees the survival of the new
grass, and mowing, trimming and weed abatement further enhances the look of the
park.
Next year, the ACSID Landscaping Division will purchase a new bucket truck capable
of reaching 30 foot heights to enable ACSID to trim the taller trees found in
our cityparks and throughout the District. |

The skies over Atlantic City were once
again the focus of attention as Thunder Over the Boardwalk, the Atlantic
City Airshow sponsored this year by Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa,
returned for its third year.
On Wednesday, August 23, an estimated 600,000 visitors flooded the beaches and
boardwalk to enjoy the Airshow, which featured performances by both military
and civilian aircraft.
ACSID assisted with the setup and breakdown of 18 viewing chalets and 12 food
vendors along the beach and provided light security and visitor assistance for
the event. The 2006 Airshow is a community partnership between the Atlantic City
Regional Mainland Chamber of Commerce, the 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air
National Guard, David Schultz Airshows, the City of Atlantic City and the Atlantic
City Convention and Visitors Authority. |
