Just as the cold, winter air gives way to the warmer, spring climate, Meet Mr. Bunny ushers in the Easter holiday season in O'Donnell Park. Local children make their way down the bunny trial, featuring decorative wooden flowers, candy-filled eggs and balloons, towards the Easter bunny (left). A Special Improvement District employee volunteers his or her time for this role, as well. A $10 receipt from a local merchant again serves as a free pass for a picture and the opportunity to win great prizes. In order to gain new ideas and perspectives, Hammond makes it a habit to attend various events throughout the year.

"I am always looking to get the job done more efficiently," Hammond said. "I always ask questions and ask for help." "An Evening on the Avenue" is routinely coordinated with other city organizations, such as the Metropolitan Business and Citizens Association and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, and are geared towards bringing people Downtown for food and fun.

The Special Improvement District co-sponsored this years MBCA Annual Summer Mixer and Silent Auction at Dock's Oyster House (right) on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. This event annually raises funds for the local MBCA scholarship fund, which to date has raised more than $20,000 for area residents whose goal is to further their education.

Delicious food was available to sate any appetite, while many wonderful prizes were up for bid. Live entertainment was provided by "Thunder Rim," a Calypso style musical group.

"An Evening on the Avenue" has co-sponsored other events, such as "Business After Hours Mixers" with the Chamber of Commerce and the 2000 MBCA Summer Mixer and Silent Auction at Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant. This past summer the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority provided funding for the weekly "Arts in the Alley" concert series in Gordon's Alley (left) each Thursday. Hammond secured local and nonlocal bands through various local musicians and organizations.

Le Grand Fromage, The Alley Cafe and CrocTails Tavern, all strategically located in or around the alley, provided outdoor food service during the performances. As for the future, Hammond has a wish list and plenty of determination. "I want to see more citywide events, not just in selected areas," Hammond said. "My goal is to bring more people Downtown. I want to see these events grow."
