Service Group, Incorporated was recently awarded the contract to provide environmental services to the Atlantic City Special Improvement District. SGI is a respected leader in the environmental services field with an executive team that possesses over 13 years of BID operation experience. They have been instrumental in the beautification of cities such as Denver, Colorado, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Tampa, Florida to name just a few.

Services provided to the Atlantic City Special Improvement District through SGI include Ambassador patrol and environmental cleaning along Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic avenues as well as on the Historic Atlantic City Boardwalk and all cross streets. These services augment those provided by the City of Atlantic City.

The ACSID/SGI District Ambassadors play an essential role in the city that is Always Turned On. Through an exhaustive orientation process and an intensive annual refresher course, Ambassadors are trained to provide hospitality, first aid, safety and information to residents and visitors alike. The Ambassadors serve the District seven days a week via foot and bike patrol. They maintain an added presence at special events throughout the City, highly visible in turquoise and navy ACSID uniforms.

The ACSID/SGI Environmental Services team is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the District. Through manual policing (pan and broom) and the utilization of a number of specialized machines they sweep, power wash, vacuum and steam clean streets and sidewalks; remove weeds, litter and graffiti; and maintain planters, garbage receptacles and banners throughout the District.

Asked what impact this new alliance would have on existing services, Donald A. Guardian, Executive Director of the Atlantic City Special Improvement District replied, “Michael Baccile and Joe Waninger of SGI have been in the forefront of Improvement Districts and Open Space management in the United States for more than 13 years. in a company dedicated to providing Environmental and Ambassador services to Improvement Districts, selecting SGI for this contract is a no-brainer.
