| Heavy fog and above-average temperatures leant the perfect tone for local
kids and adults alike to enjoy Saturday, October 30th's Halloween Haunted Hayride in O'Donnell Park. The annual event, sponsored by the City of Atlantic City, CRDA, Councilman Dennis Mason, the merchants and casinos of the Special Improvement District and MainStreet Atlantic City, brought out the kid in everyone. A giant inflatable castle had many kids gleefully bouncing off the walls while others honed their artistic talents at the paint-your-own-pumpkin table. ACSID and MainStreet staff were on hand distributing all the Halloween candy, freshly popped popcorn, hot cider, masks and glow necklaces the costumed crowd could possibly wish for. And as the sun set on the foggy frightfest, a horse-drawn hayride around the park offered a magical ending to another day of sweet treats and festive family fun in O'Donnell Park. |

The 2004 holiday season kicked off in grand style on the evening of Friday, November 26 as the City of Atlantic City held its annual tree lighting ceremony in Center City Park. ACSID staff dispensed hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes while Mayor Langford lit the City's Christmas tree and led the crowd in a holiday carol sing-along. Later, Santa Claus made his first appearance of the year, proudly escorted by Atlantic City's brave firemen, to kick off ACSID's 6th Annual Downtown Winter Wonderland. The celebration continued throughout the month of December at locations across the city. Santa brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of local children as he accepted their wish lists and promised to deliver the goods on December 22. Santa Claus made his final appearance in Center City Park on Wednesday, December 22 to distribute gifts to the good boys and girls of Atlantic City who wrote letters to him through ACSID's 6th Annual Winter Wonderland. 175 happy children were in the park to claim their gifts when Santa arrived. ACSID would like to thank our Winter Wonderland sponsors, the casinos and merchants of the Atlantic City Special Improvement District and Main Street Atlantic City--a nonprofit organization focused on unlocking the possibilities of downtown Atlantic City. And special thanks to our Santa's Wish List sponsors, without whose generous donations this year's holiday gift giveaway would not have been possible |
