Family and friends of Charles Mills
gather to honor his memory

On Thursday, February 17 ACSID presented a Black History Month program entitled "Celebrating Atlantic City's African American Heritage". The event, which was held at the Westside All Wars Memorial Building (Soldiers' Home), paid tribute to prominent Atlantic City citizens who helped shape the city's history. Prominent citizens who were acknowledged for their contributions included Sidney Trusty, Soundra Usry Hollingsworth, Charles Mills, and Marvin E. Beatty, Jr.
The 100+ attendees included friends and family of the honorees, joined by Mayor Lorenzo T. Langford, City Council President Craig Calloway, Councilman William "Speedy" Marsh, city staffers and many local dignitaries. Live entertainment was provided by Johnny Andrews and Friends and the event was catered by local soul food favorite, Fish Heads. Presentations included historic displays of Atlantic City's proud African American heritage borrowed from the Sid Trusty Memorabilia Center.

Atlantic City residents and visitors alike joined in the festivities at O'Donnell Park on Saturday, March 26 for our 6th Annual "Meet Mr. Bunny". Hundreds of attendees, both young and young-at-heart, played in inflatable rooms, had their picture taken with Mr. Bunny, and were treated to lots of free candy, balloons, masks, calendars and other giveaways.

This event was brought to you by the merchants and casinos of the Special Improvement District in partnership with MainStreet Atlantic City, The City of Atlantic City and Councilman Dennis Mason.
