Donald A. Guardian, first inducted into Rotary
Service in
May 1979, will serve as Governor of Rotary District 7640
for the 2005-2006 term. Rotary District 7640 encompasses
six counties of southern NewJersey: Atlantic, Camden, Cape
May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem. The district is
comprised of fifty-four Rotary Clubs totaling over 1,600
Rotarians.
The main objective of Rotary is service – in the community,
in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotary volunteers
build goodwill and peace, provide humanitarian service, and
encourage high ethical standards in all vocations. The Rotary
motto is Service Above Self.
As a member of the Atlantic City Club, Mr. Guardian
previously served on the Board of Directors for four years.
During this period, he chaired the Membership,
International, and Vocational Committees. In 2000, he took
on the challenge of serving as President of the Club. After
his year as President, Mr. Guardian served as Assistant
District Governor before being selected to serve as District
Governor. We wish Don well as he takes on the role of
Governor beginning July 1, 2005.

One of the programs of Rotary International is known as a
Group Study Exchange. This year a group of five non-
Rotarians between the ages of 25 and 40 will travel to
southern Brazil for four weeks. They will be able to meet,
talk, and live with Rotarians and their families in a warm
spirit of friendship and hospitality.
In addition to learning about another country through visits
to farms, schools, industrial plants, professional offices
and
government establishments, the GSE team members serve as
ambassadors of goodwill. They represent their home nation
to host Rotarians and others in the communities they visit.
Some 44,500 business and professional men and women
have served on 9,000 teams worldwide. All expenses are
covered through the Rotary International Foundation.
It is our great pleasure to announce that one of ACSID's own,
Jazmyn Rivera, has been chosen to be on the Group Study
Exchange Team to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, scheduled for
April 16 to May 16, 2005. We wish Jazmyn a bon voyage
and safe trip as she undertakes the role of a goodwill
ambassador from Southern New Jersey to Rio Grande do Sul.
