A new cleaning device was added to the ever growing and ever efficient Environmental Services Division fleet this season. The Holder power washing machine (left) debuted on the streets of Atlantic City this spring to rave reviews. This new machine features 30 jets that produce 1,500 pounds of pressure and thus allow the district to be power washed much faster than previous methods and a 1,000 liter water tank.

In April, 258 benches along the Boardwalk were repainted and re-stained in order to bring out their original luster. Each bench received a fresh coat of stain, while the armrests received a new coat of paint (before - top right, after - bottom right).

Other projects that have resumed this year: Lot cutting, steam cleaning, Jitney/bus shelter painting and cleaning, repainting of 256 aluminum poles (left), and pan and broom cleaning of the streets.

With the coming of the summer season the Boardwalk information gazebos, located at Brighton Park (left) and Rotary Plaza at South Carolina Avenue, are now open to the public daily from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Both "Tea House" style gazebos allow visitors traversing the Boardwalk to personally walk in to the gazebo and browse through the various brochures, fliers and local entertainment guides. A Courtesy Patrol representative staffs the gazebo and is available to lend assistance whenever needed.

The Bike Patrol (from left to right - Arthur Dennis, William Blackwell and Al Prather) continues to provide security throughout the district seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The city is divided into two districts (Maine-Michigan avenues and Michigan-Kingston avenues) and are patrolled four times daily.
