The redevelopment of the city's Northeast Inlet into a neighborhood of dazzling, new family-style homes is rapidly drawing to a close. Portsmouth Place, another Casino Reinvestment Development Authority housing project, officially was unveiled on Friday, May 30, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured many local dignitaries and community leaders.

Comprised of 18 twin-style homes on approximately one acre of land from the beach and Boardwalk, Portsmouth Place is bounded by New Hampshire Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, St. Katherine Place and Grammercy Place. Each home comes complete with gas heat; central air conditioning; fully equipped kitchen with gas range, refrigerator and dishwasher; vinyl, ceramic and carpeted floors; fenced yards and lush green landscaping.

Also, six 450-square-foot studios are located above detached two-car garages. Four of these units
have been reserved for HOPE VI families that are relocating from outdated public housing
developments
