The Environmental Services Division continues to keep the streets of Atlantic City spotless throughout the year with state-of- the-art technology and good old-fashioned elbow grease.
In early 2003, another piece of machinery was added to the street cleaning team with the purchase of the Mad Vac 101 litter collector (left). This new machine features a 48" wide vacuum head that cleans 105,000 square feet per hour, a power arm that makes litter collecting effortless, bagless debris system,a 15-foot hose for those hard-to-reach areas and plenty of safety devices to ensure the operator's safety.

In May, trash cans, benches, planters and tables were repainted, and the tea house information gazebo restained at Rotary Plaza at South Carolina Avenue and the Boardwalk (right). Also, Boardwalk light poles, benches, planters and trash cans were repainted (below).

Towards the end of April, acorn light poles and trash cans were repainted and street benches restained along Delaware Avenue (below right), which is a major roadway linking Route 30(White Horse Pike/Absecon Boulevard) with downtown Atlantic City and the Showboat Casino Hotel.

Also in April, more than 50 trash cans (left) located along Atlantic Avenue in the Main Street district between Massachusetts and Michigan avenues were restored. The trash cans were first removed from the street, taken to the ACSID warehouse for sandblasting, and then sent to a local auto body garage for priming, baking and application of the final dark blue coat of paint before being returned to the avenue. Main Street and ACSID logos later were added to the trash cans.
