It can be a thankless task, a dirty and sweaty existence, but one that in the end can be as rewarding as ever. From the main streets of Atlantic and Ventnor avenues to the narrow side streets of Gordon's Alley and Westminster Avenue, the Atlantic City Special Improvement District's (ACSID) Environmental Services team performs its respective tasks admirably day in and day out throughout the year.

Begun in 1993 with the advent of the ACSID, Environmental Services (EVS) performs many cleaning duties, such as power washing, scrubbing, steam cleaning, lot cutting, graffiti removal and painting, and keeps Atlantic City clean and safe one day at a time..

Maintaining the cleanliness of a tourist destination that welcomes millions of visitors each year takes old fashioned elbow grease, manpower and modern technology.

State-of-the-art machinery keeps the city's sidewalks and streets clean. The Cushman Power Washer with its 150 gallon tank has improved sidewalk cleaning efficiency. The Mad Vac 101 litter collector that features a 48" wide vacuum head that cleans 105,00 square feet per hour, a power arm that makes litter collecting effortless, a bagless debris system, a 15-foot hose for those hard-to-reach areas and plenty of safety devices to ensure the operator's safety. And, there is the Tenant 7400 Scrubber that's equipped with a 70-gallon water disbursement tank, a 70- gallon water recovery tank, cleaning fluid compartment, two main scrubbing brushes, one side brush and vacuum recovery capabilities.
