 Upon entering Atlantic City, visitors immediately notice the beautifully landscaped corridor at the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway, new amenities like Sandcastle Stadium and Flyers Skate Zone along Albany Avenue or the towering Borgata Resort, Spa & Casino along Route 30.

Recently other sights have become a staple of Atlantic City's skyline. Huge cranes, scaffolding rising high into the air and dozens of concrete trucks pouring the foundations of the very structures that are poised to reinvigorate Atlantic City and turn it into this country's premier resort destination.

As 2002 draws to a close, Atlantic City finds itself in the midst of a $1.8 billion explosion of new construction. The long-awaited second wave of development features a new casino, three hotel towers, three entertainment and retail complexes, two elementary schools, several housing developments and two parking garages, just to name a few.

The $1 billion Borgata Resort, Spa & Casino (above), complete with a 43- story hotel tower covered with gold-tinted glass and 2,010 luxurious guest rooms, will offer visitors a wide array of attractions. Set to open in summer 2003, the Borgata features 135,000 square feet of gaming space, 11 restaurants, 70,000 square feet of event space, rejuvenating treatment rooms in a 35,000-square-foot spa, pool with landscape surroundings, exciting lounges, bars, shopping and entertainment, a 5,000-space customer parking garage and a 1,209-space employee parking garage.
