conference room and interactive television classroom. Located on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Carnegie Library is scheduled for completion by September 2003.

The commitment toward providing Atlantic City's children with modern and state-of-the-art educational facilities can be seen with the construction of two elementary schools. The New York Avenue School (left), bounded by New York, Tennessee, Adriatic and Caspian avenues, and Sovereign Avenue School (right), bounded by Sovereign, Montpelier, Baltic and Fairmount avenues, each come with a $13 million price tag.

The North Carolina Avenue widening and expansion project (below), when completed, will link the avenue to the Atlantic City Expressway Connector. Between Atlantic Avenue and Route 30, North Carolina Avenue has been widened to four lanes (two lanes in each direction) and extensively landscaped with trees, lighting and new sidewalks. The stretch of road between Atlantic and Pacific avenues received new turning lanes and median strip with trees and lighting. Upon completion in April 2003, the intersection at South Carolina Avenue and Route 30 will be closed and traffic diverted to North Carolina Avenue.

In order to complete this project the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and St. Andrew's By the Sea Church completed a land-swap deal. The church originally owned the land that was needed to properly link North Carolina Avenue to the connector. St. Andrew's By the Sea Church now will break ground for its new church on a plot of land adjacent to its former site in hopes of opening for Christmas 2003.

Due to the current influx of development, parking spaces, and plenty of them, will be needed. Two new parking garages, which could add as many as 4,200 spaces, have been approved for construction. The first garage would be located on a vacant lot located between Atlantic and Arctic avenues & Missouri and Mississippi avenues and would provide
